Our Business

It is not easy to find skilled trades people today. We hear that all the time.

There is in fact a shortage of qualified skilled trade staff and it is world wide. 

Buena Vista was formed in 2001 partly to address the lack of training and education in the  Building Envelope field.

Our brief most often is to identify causes of building defects and then to represent clients in mediation and settlement hearings.

As consultants we spend a great deal of our time educating  the public and trade professionals in the various aspects of Building Envelope Technology.

Our business in a nutshell is about:

• Educating trade and industry professionals about  Building Envelope Systems and Technology
• Identifying causes of failure in the Building Envelope
• Representing clients in mediation and adjudication hearings.

Always Improving to serve you better

 The principal of Duval Associates comes from a family with a long history in the built environment.

Mr Duvals father was a well respected civil engineer/project manager  in Auckland New Zealand.

Many schools, government buildings, and infrastructure jobs still remain after fifty years and are a credit to the engineering and construction skills of our early tradespeople.

The principal of Duval Associates started in the building envelope industry in 1976 completing formal training in Penrose Auckland to be a roofing contractor

 A few years later in 1979 Mr Duval was recruited by the president of the largest manufacturer of building envelope materials to the position of a technical representative in the United States.

By  1985 Mr Duval was certified and qualified by the largest manufacturer at the time of single ply membranes (butynol) to install their products.
