Our Business

It is not easy to find skilled trades people today. We hear that all the time.

There is in fact a shortage of qualified skilled trade staff and it is world wide. 

Buena Vista was formed in 2001 partly to address the lack of training and education in the  Building Envelope field.

Our brief most often is to identify causes of building defects and then to represent clients in mediation and settlement hearings.

As consultants we spend a great deal of our time educating  the public and trade professionals in the various aspects of Building Envelope Technology.

Our business in a nutshell is about:

 Buena Vista in spanish means beautifu view

 But it also means good eyesight

 At Buena Vista we will often find defects missed by everyone else.

 But there is another Buena Vista

 Rocky Bay Waiheki New Zealand

We get asked from time to time  why our company is called Buena Vista.

 Well it goes way back to our first real family home on Waiheki Island.

 We had this qaint little cottage high up on the hill over looking the beautiful Rocky Bay.

 It was incredibly peaceful there and the vistas were absolutely stunning.

We called the place Buena Vista

 Since then whenever we have gone on vacation to fun relaxing places we come across the name Buena Vista.

Lake Buena Vista in Florida, Buena Vista in in Southern California, and a pretty little town in southern France called Buena Vista.

Then there is that delightful film about the Buena Vista Social Club-some of the best Jazz ever from Cuba.

And so Buena Vista was formed to be a positive help for  people with defectively built homes.
